Discussion | As illustrated by these cases, undescended parathyroid adenomas are challenging to identify with sestamibi studies. When sestamibi studies do not demonstrate uptake in the thyroid bed or mediastinum, careful scrutiny for asymmetry of the submandibular regions is warranted to rule out these lesions. Alternatively, 4-dimensional CT imaging is a useful adjunct for localizing undescended adenomas.3
